Cappadocia Prepares For European Championships

   Just weeks before hosting the European Championship, Cappadocia will be the scene for the Turkish Mountain Biking Tournament this weekend.Registrations for the race are being done at 12 p.m. in Urgup center on Saturday and a technical briefing follows that.

The race starts Sunday at 10 a.m., the Championship consists of 90-minute races in many categories such as junior, senior, master (in different age sub groupings of 30-39, 40-49, 50+) for both men and women. The elite category for men and women and under-23 races kick off at 2:00 p.m. The award ceremony is at 5:00 p.m.

  Mehmet Budak, the head of the Youth and Sports General Directorate (GSGM) for Nevsehir, declared the rules and restrictions for the race, adding that the Championship complies with the orders of the International Cycling Union and Turkish Cycling Federation. The six-and-a-half kilometer long racecourse will be the same as the European Championship and that’s why the event is seen as an opportunity to prepare for the aforementioned organization.
